Requesting Network Access for a Visitor

It is common for us to have visiting scholars here at the Center for Imaging Science.  We allow them to have network access for the duration of their stay.  In order to protect the CIS Network there are several guidelines that must be followed:

  • The computer must have the latest Windows patches (or Mac OS X updates).
  • The computer must have a anti-virus software installed and working.
  • The request must be submitted by the visitor's sponsor (faculty or staff member) by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   The email must contain the following information:
  1. Name of the visitor.
  2. Dates the visitor will need network access.
  3. MAC address of the network card.

  • Go to Start->Run...
  • Type in cmd and hit enter
  • A command prompt will come up.  Type in ipconfig /all
