CIS Computing Initiatives |

The CIS Support Team is continually working to improve computing at the CIS by making the system more stable, secure, and user friendly. Below are several projects that aim to achieve these goals Current Initiatives: - IPsec - Complete IPsec work for Mac/Windows/Linux to allow for more secure NFS Mounts
- Upgrade Web Server Software
- Update the name servers
- Update of Mail Server
- Upgrade CIS Network to Gig-E
- Single Sign On - Kerberos Realms for authentication
- Windows and Mac NIS Integration (Active Directory and use of Microsoft SFU 3.5)
- Replace Printer Subnet and out of warranty xerox printers
- Security Compliance of Legacy Servers
- Solaris 10 Upgrade
- Windows integration with NIS and NFS Home Directories
- Account and Password Synchronization (PC/Mac/Sun)
- Testing Windows Vista, Office 2007
Completed Initiatives: - Participation in the Condor 1000 program - Install Condor on Sun, Mac, and Windows Computers at the CenterTesting of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
- SPAM Filtering - Use ITS SPAM filtering service (brightmail) to reduce CIS Mail SPAM
- Devolop Student Admin Training Program
- Ipsec - This allows for more secure NFS file mounts and will allow for a more secure environment (Sun IPsec completed)
- Testing of Active Directory in Dirs and the CIS PC Lab
- Upgrade of CIS Network to Gig-E
- Hardware Support for Element and Astronaut Cluster
- Computing.cis.rit.edu - Completed dedicated website for Computing Resources at the CIS. Including user documentation, knowledgebase, and FAQ
